Overview

The Desktop Technician will manage and support a wide variety of Operating Systems and support these systems on a shift-work basis with occasional on-call support. The Desktop Technician III will perform system administration for specific operating systems within their area of responsibility, including specialized software such as GIS and AutoCAD and software unique to Indian Affairs. All duties and responsibilities are performed in accordance with the Mission, Vision, and Core Values of Cayuse

Responsibilities

  • Perform system administration for specific operating systems within their area of responsibility, including specialized software such as GIS and AutoCAD and software unique to Indian Affairs
  • Apply patches, upgrades, and enhancements as they are approved by the customer.
  • Perform systems management and systems monitoring.
  • Responsible for security and administrative control of services and systems
  • Monitor server applications for availability, latency, and gateway queuing.
  • Support customer configuration management procedures.
  • Perform monitoring of all upgrades and enhancements
  • Provide setup and configuration solutions for Windows Server and domain controllers.
  • Monitor server applications, and system security logs, and be able to leverage the Microsoft Operational Management server.
  • Provide desktop computer support for general office software, specialized software, educational software, and software used by any of the supported bureaus.
  • Mentor and support junior System Administrators
  • Non-Essential Duties
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Support would include (but not be limited to): installing and troubleshooting both hardware and software.
  • Ability to support Microsoft operating systems.
  • Working knowledge of general office software such Microsoft Office and Google mail.
  • The ability to support specialized software such as GIS and AutoCAD and software unique to Indian Affairs (or similar software or general business application support is acceptable).
  • Ability to work with minimal guidance.
  • Suitability to obtain Public Trust.
  • Must be able to pass a background check. May require additional background checks as required by projects and/or clients at any time during employment.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate in a professional, and articulate manner to individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with high-level attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast past environment with changing priorities; adaptable to change and a quick learner.
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work well independently as well as on a multi-functional team.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately.
  • Shall have the requisite skills, expertise, and experience to perform the requirements of each task. Must be extremely detail-oriented and well organized.
  • Must have Proficient skills using Microsoft and Google Suite Products (Word, Excel, Power Point) and be able to learn new software as the situation dictates.

 

Reports to: Program Manager

 

Working Conditions

  •     Professional office environment.
  •     Traditional work schedule, Mon-Friday, core hours.
  •  Must be physically and mentally able to perform duties for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed to meet the demands of this position.
  • Must be able to establish a productive and professional workspace.
  • Must be able to sit for long periods of time looking at computer screen.
  • May be asked to work a flexible schedule which may include holidays.
  • May be asked to travel for business or professional development purposes.
  • May be asked to work hours outside of normal business hours.

Pay Range

USD $27.00 - USD $29.00 /Hr.
