Primary Focus

Duties as Assistant Instructor (AI), Testing officer and Classroom Facilitator in support of the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy (USASMA) Battle Staff Course for Non-Commissioned Officers (BSNCOC).

 

Responsible for analysis, design, and development of instructional materials in all curriculums including inter-active media instruction, lesson plans, Total Army Training School Courseware, Programs of Instruction, individual student assessment plans, grading rubrics, and course management plans for non-commissioned officers in-house refresher technical training to all assigned training personnel. Plans, directs, and coordinates training of military personnel in all areas of Program of Instruction (POI). Ensures compliance with policies and existing regulations. Directs and supervises implementation of changes in operations directed by On-Site Manager. Keeps On-Site Manager informed of progress and/or problems arising during implementation.

 

Performs a variety of administrative and technical duties in connection with basic and specialized phases of BSNCOC training. Instructs complete courses in basic, advanced, and applied theoretical principles and techniques of battle staff processes. Provides operational support to assigned training development personnel and is accountable for training products and materials that support training those attending BSNCOC. Monitors training programs, evaluates training provided, and assists staff and faculty personnel with related academic problems.

 

This position performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the Mission, Vision, and Core Values of Cayuse.

Responsibilities

  • Instruct Sergeants through Sergeants Major to serve as Battle Staff Noncommissioned Officers at Battalion and higher-level staff positions.
  • Facilitate course material through Ft Carson distant learning lab via Video Teleconference (VTC).
  • Assist with preparation and administration of practical exercise and final examinations.
  • Track progress and attendance of 16 senior noncommissioned officers.
  • Conduct daily inventories of classroom equipment before and after class.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:      

  • Prior military service with a minimum of five years of experience in grade of Senior NCO, Warrant Officer, or Commissioned Officer with experience in training management.
  • Working knowledge of Small Group Process; Mission Command; Staff Operations; Operational Environment; Stability Operations; Information Operations; Cyber Defense; Brigade Combat Team; Urban Operations; Tactical Sustainment; Military Briefings; Graphics and Overlays; Plans, Orders, and Attachments; Command Post of the Future; Military Decision-Making Process; and Staff Exercise.
  • At least one year experience as an instructor within the past 10 years prior to employment.
  • Familiarity with Defense Department data sources for logistical support (POIs).
  • Prior military rank of SFC or above
  • Must have completed a Battle Staff course within the last 5 years
  • Army Basic Instructor Course (ABIC)
  • Additional Skill Identifier (ASI) 2S
  • Ability to obtain Public Trust Clearance
  • Must be able to pass a background check. May require additional background checks as required by projects and/or clients at any time during employment.

Minimum Skills:

  • Must possess problem-solving skills.
  • Must be prepared to utilize problem solving skills to manage course schedules and students.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both oral and written
  • Ability to respond effectively to customers with a sense of urgency.
  • Proficient in Microsoft and Adobe toolsets, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Acrobat, Teams, etc.
  • Highly motivated with the ability to handle and manage multiple tasks at any one time.
  • Ability to forge new relationships, individual and teaming in nature.
  • Must be a Self-starter, that can work independently and as part of a team.

Working Conditions

  • Must be physically and mentally able to perform duties for extended periods of time. Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed to meet the demands of this position.
  • Must be able to establish a productive and professional workspace.
  • Must be able to work varying work schedules and/or extended hours to meet business needs and project deadlines.
  • May be asked to travel for business or professional development purposes.
