Primary Focus

Serves as training specialist/instructor for Army Military Occupational Skill (MOS) 92G Culinary Specialist. Trains soldiers in food preparation, sanitation, and equipment operation for garrison and field environments. Responsibilities include delivering classroom and hands-on instruction, evaluating performance, maintaining training records, and mentoring soldiers in leadership and professionalism. Key skills include expertise in Army food standards, sanitation protocols, and equipment maintenance.  Plans, directs, and coordinates training of military personnel in all areas of Program of Instruction (POI). Ensures compliance with policies and existing regulations. Directs and supervises implementation of changes in operations directed by On-Site Manager. Keeps On-Site Manager informed of progress and/or problems arising during implementation. Performs a variety of administrative and technical duties in connection with basic and specialized phases of MOS 92G training. Instructs complete courses in basic, advanced, and applied theoretical principles and techniques of culinary processes. Provides operational support to assigned training development personnel and is accountable for training products and materials that support training the 92G. Monitors training programs, evaluates training provided, and assists staff and faculty personnel with related academic problems.

Responsibilities

  • Train food service personnel MOS 92G in basic and advanced cooking and food preparation techniques using train-the-trainer concepts.
  • Responsible for pre-course meal preparation and post-course preparation.
  • Demonstrate food preparation techniques, use of equipment and meal planning according to military standards.
  • Provide training for ServSafe Food Handler certification.
  • Operation and maintenance of food service equipment (both garrison and field-based).
  • Instruct on the use and maintenance of field kitchen equipment like the Mobile Kitchen Trailer (MKT).
  • Facilitate course material.
  • Assist with preparation and administration of practical exercise and final examinations.
  • Track progress and attendance of at least 20 students per course.
  • Conduct daily inventories of classroom equipment before and after class.
  • Manage and purchase food used for each course.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:      

  • Minimum 2 years of formal culinary training or equivalent work experience.
  • Knowledge of operating system Army Food Management Information System (AFMIS).
  • Familiarity with Defense Department data sources for logistical support (POIs).
  • Must be able to pass a background check. May require additional background checks as required by projects and/or clients at any time during employment.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate at all levels within an organization and externally in a professional, articulate manner.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with high-level attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast past environment with changing priorities; adaptable to change and a quick learner.
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work well independently as well as on a multi-functional team.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule to support the team.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office A365/TEAMS.

  • Former 922A Food Service Technician
  • Former Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) 92G Culinary Specialist
  • ServeSafe Certified
  • Army Basic Instructor Course (ABIC)
  • Skill Qualification Identifier (SQI 8)

Reports to: On-Site Manager

 

Working Conditions

  • General office environment.
  • Must be physically and mentally able to perform duties while standing for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed to meet the demands of this position.
  • Must be able to establish a productive and professional workspace.
  • Must be able to sit for long periods of time looking at computer screen.

  • May be asked to work hours outside of normal business hours.

Pay Range

USD $26.88 - USD $26.88 /Hr.
