Overview

The Work

The Budget Analyst is a critical role responsible for managing and analyzing budgetary operations within a Department of Defense (DoD) or government environment. The analyst will work with large, complex budgets, often exceeding $50 million, and must demonstrate expertise in both Army and Joint budget management, ensuring compliance and accuracy in budget execution. Additionally, the role involves budget reporting through the General Funds Enterprise Business System (GFEBS) and managing funds for exercises across Army and Joint environments. This position offers the opportunity to work independently, contributing valuable financial data and options that inform strategic decisions and enhance operational effectiveness. This position performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the Mission, Vision, and Core Values of Cayuse.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Create Program Objective Memorandums (POMs) and develop organizational spend plans
  • Utilize Microsoft Power Platforms, particularly Power BI and Apps, for data analysis and reporting
  • Conduct detailed budget analysis and provide data-informed options to senior leaders
  • Track and report current budget execution in a clear, accessible format
  • Report budget execution through the General Funds Enterprise Business System (GFEBS)
  • Manage Army and Joint funds, including budget allocations for exercises and operational activities
  • Ensure adherence to budgetary regulations and guidelines
  • Oversee and analyze budget operations for complex DoD financial activities
  • Work with large, complex budgets, ensuring compliance and accuracy in budget execution
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Qualifications – Here’s What You Need:

  • Minimum of 5 years in a DoD or government budget role with a focus on large, complex budgets
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (or 6 years of relevant work experience as a substitute)
  • Certification in defense financial management, such as Certified Defense Financial Manager (CDFM) and DoD Financial Management Certification Level II/III
  • Experience with both Army and Joint budgets, handling large-scale budgets exceeding $50 million
  • Secret Clearance required
  • Must be able to pass a background check. May require additional background checks as required by projects and/or clients at any time during employment:
  • Completion of Joint Professional Military Education Phase I or II
  • Proficient in financial management systems and tools; GFEBS, Microsoft Power BI, and Power Apps
  • Must possess problem-solving skills
  • Exceptional communication skills, both oral and written
  • Ability to respond effectively to customers with a sense of urgency
  • Proficient in Microsoft and Adobe toolsets, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Acrobat, etc.
  • Highly motivated with the ability to handle and manage multiple tasks at any one time
  • Ability to forge new relationships, individual and teaming in nature
  • Must be a Self-starter, that can work independently and as part of a team

Pay Range

USD $76,000.00 - USD $117,000.00 /Yr.
