Minimum Education Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
Minimum Experience Requirements:
- Two years’ experience in military or Industrial Security
- Six months’ experience in administrative, technical, clerical, military or other work that involved:
- Written procedures
- Rules or regulations in contacts with coworkers, supervisors, or members of the public to provide a service
- Respond to inquiries
- Obtain information
- Ability to speak, read, and write English
Minimum Position-Specific Training Required:
- Six months’ experience involved the protection of property against such hazards as fire, theft, damage, accident, trespass, maintaining order, and protecting life
- Capable of comprehending and implementing instructions concerning the operation of mechanical equipment such as generators, air conditioners, fire protection equipment, and other emergency equipment.
- Ability to perform in a professional manner and maintain a neat and clean appearance
- Possess a valid state Driver’s License
Citizenship and Security Clearance Requirements:
- US Citizen
- Obtain and maintain the appropriate level of clearance
Certification Requirements:
Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:
- Work is primarily conducted in a single person guard shack located at an access control point.
- Occasional lifting to 20 pounds, sitting while using the computer terminal, use of sight, hearing and speech abilities for communication, and constant mental alertness are required.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to signal and talk or listen.
- The employee is required to walk over uneven terrain in low light conditions during periodic rounds several times a shift; and reach with hands and arms.
- The employee is occasionally exposed to extreme heat, cold, wet and/or humid conditions.
- This position may work one of three shifts that cover a 24-hour period. Later shifts often require that the employee is alone at a remote site.
- Must be able to work unsupervised.
