Responsibilities

Description of General Duties:

  • The TMDE Technician III applies advanced technical knowledge to solve complex problems that typically cannot be solved solely by referencing manufacturers' manuals or similar documents.
  • Prepares the TMDE equipment calibration schedule to ensure timely calibrations.  Performs follow-up on TMDE schedule with work centers to ensure equipment meets the calibration schedules. 
  • Applies comprehensive technical knowledge to solve complex problems by interpreting manufacturers' manuals or similar documents.  Performs troubleshooting and repair of complex electronic circuits.
  • Utilizes CTTR IEMS master database, the MEASURE program, METCAL/METPRO program and the OA calibration program for maintaining records pertaining to all maintenance and inventory actions for all Fallon TMDE. Utilizes IEMS database for parts request via the procurement request process. Coordinates monthly calibration dates with the vendor. 
  • Performs organizational and intermediate-level maintenance on TMDE.  Uses complex test equipment (spectrum analyzers, sweep oscillators, signal generators) to perform troubleshooting, isolate malfunctions, and repair to the component level.
  • Familiar with FAR Part 45, Government Property.  Research availability of parts and new TMDE, vendors, and costs.  Maintains hard copy files for MTFs, calibration certificates, and MEASURE meter cards.
  • Follow prescribed safety practices and use safety equipment such as hard-toe shoes, safety glasses, and gloves.  Dismantles and reassembles equipment using hand tools. 

Qualifications

Minimum Education Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent

 

Minimum Experience Requirements:

  • Five years’ electronics maintenance experience in the following areas
    • Digital/Analog and RF signal processing
    • Test equipment, such as:
    • Oscilloscopes
    • Signal Generators
    • DC Power Supplies
    • Counters
    • Spectrum Analyzers
    • Multimeters
    • Power Meters/Sensors
  • Ability to speak, read, and write English

Minimum Position-Specific Training Required:

  • Formal classroom education equivalent to Navy “C” School or vocational school that provided a comprehensive curriculum in the field of electronics, and electronic equipment operation and maintenance.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license

Citizenship and Security Clearance Requirements:

  • US Citizen
  • Obtain and maintain the appropriate level of clearance

Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands: 

  • The employee typically works indoors in an environment involving everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as offices or meeting rooms. Observance of normal safety practices with office equipment, avoidance of trips and falls, and observance of fire regulations is required.
  • The area is adequately lit, heated, and ventilated. 
  • The work is primarily sedentary. The employee may sit comfortably to do the work.
  • There may be some walking, standing, bending, carrying of light items such as papers, books, or small parts.
  • Work may occasionally require some physical exertion such as long periods of standing; walking over rough, uneven, or rocky surfaces; recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching; or similar activities.  Subject to electrical shock.
  • Frequently lifts and carrying items up to 40 pounds unassisted, frequently lifts and carries items weighing more than 40 pounds assisted.

Pay Range

USD $42.43 - USD $42.43 /Hr.
