The Senior Finance Specialist will oversee and manage cost accounting activities, ensuring accurate financial reporting and providing analysis to support business decisions. This position requires a highly experienced and detail-oriented person with a strong background in DCAA compliance and government contracting.

 

This position performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the Mission, Vision, and Core Values of Cayuse.

Responsibilities

  • Manage Cost Accounting:
    • Oversee the entire cost accounting function, including standard cost development, variance analysis, and inventory valuation.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting:
    • Participate in the budgeting and forecasting processes, providing cost analysis and insights.
  • Pricing Analysis and Oversight:
    • Annually and semi-annually, update relevant forward pricing models accounting for the impacts of growth and revenue forecast changes to those models.  Provide financial oversight on key opportunities/proposals pricing models, working closely with the Capture Team to ensure accuracy of the models and submission of profitable bids.
  • Indirect Cost Rates:
    • Develops and manages indirect cost rates, pools, and bases in accordance with DCAA and FAR requirements.
  • Cost Analysis and Reporting:
    • Prepare and analyze cost reports, highlighting variances and providing recommendations to management.
  • Process Improvement:
    • Identify opportunities to improve cost accounting processes, implement best practices, and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Financial Modeling:
    • Utilize financial modeling techniques to assess the impact of operational changes and strategic initiatives.
  • Collaboration:
    • Work closely with other departments, such as Business Unit Management, Contract Management, Proposals, Pricing, Project Management Office and Business Development, to gather data and provide financial support.
  • Audits:
    • Participate in internal and external audits, addressing any findings or discrepancies.
    • Prepares annual DCAA incurred cost submissions, supporting audits,
    • Supports Incurred Cost and Provisional Billing Rate submissions, preparing compliant cost proposals, and coordinating audits for various government contract types while ensuring invoices meet DCAA standards.
    • Act as a liaison between DCAA auditors and maintaining DCAA-compliant accounting systems to ensure proper segregation of costs and adherence to FAR and CAS regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Here’s What You Need

  • A bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field.
  • 10+ years of cost accounting experience with a strong emphasis on DCAA compliance and government contracts, including experience with DCAA audits.
  • Proficiency in DCAA regulations (timekeeping, cost segregation, allowable costs) and a strong understanding of GAAP, FAR, DFARS, and CAS.
  • Strong knowledge of cost accounting principles and methodologies, including cost allocation, variance analysis, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Experience with different government contract types.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Deltek Costpoint, SAP, QuickBooks) with DCAA compliance capabilities.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, critical thinking, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong attention to detail.
  • Must be able to pass a background check. May require additional background checks as required by projects and/or clients at any time during employment.

Working Conditions
