Overview

The Clinical Lead will provide expert leadership and guidance in defining and managing the clinical configurations of Epic Community Center for the HCMACS (Health Care Management and Coordination System) Enterprise electronic health record (EHR) implementation. This role ensures alignment of provider workflows with HCA standards, facilitates collaboration with the Systems Integrator (SI), and guarantees compliance with all relevant healthcare laws and regulations.

 

This position performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the Mission, Vision, and Core Values of Cayuse.

Responsibilities

  • Clinical Configuration Management:
    • Adopt and implement the standard configuration sets for target providers, ensuring all clinical workflows and requirements are mapped effectively to the HCMACS Enterprise EHR Solution.
    • Engage with participating providers to assess, analyze, and validate their clinical workflow and configuration needs.
    • Evaluate requests from participating providers for localized configuration changes, maintaining alignment with HCA’s standardized offering while evaluating feasibility.
  • Cross-Team Collaboration:
    • Coordinate with the Systems Integrator to ensure that clinical functionality requirements are implemented as specified.
    • Actively participate in Connect provider advisory group sessions to discuss and address system-side needs.
    • Support broader governance and stakeholder engagement groups to ensure alignment across agencies.
  • Testing and Validation:
    • Participate in and lead user acceptance testing (UAT) to ensure clinical workflows operate as designed within HCMACS.
    • Define and oversee EHR testing methodologies to ensure compliance with operational needs and state/federal regulations.
    • Provide input on configuration updates or refinements based on test results and end-user feedback.
  • Post-Implementation Support:
    • Provide ongoing support to clinical staff during initial go-live and stabilization phases, ensuring troubleshooting and operational efficiency.
    • Conduct periodic clinical satisfaction surveys and recommend system refinements to maintain high levels of user satisfaction and effectiveness.
  • Regulatory Compliance and Best Practices:
    • Ensure alignment of the HCMACS Enterprise EHR system with relevant laws and regulations, including the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA), and CMS (Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services) standards.
    • Contribute to the development of policies and procedures that uphold HCMACS functionality, patient confidentiality, and clinical best practices.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or a related field is required.
  • Advanced clinical degree (e.g., MSN, PharmD, MD) is strongly preferred.
  • Current licensure in one of the following specialties: Nursing, Clinical Informatics, Behavioral Health, or Pharmacy.
  • Certification in Epic modules related to relevant clinical domains (e.g., EpicCare Inpatient, Ambulatory Care) is highly desirable.
  • Minimum 5 years of similar experience implementing Epic EHR systems in clinical provider settings, with a demonstrated understanding of system capabilities.
  • Minimum of one complete Epic implementation cycle within the past 5 years, serving as a Clinical Lead or Architect.
  • Proven track record in configuring Epic’s clinical modules, including clinical documentation, order sets, and reporting workflows.
  • Technical Proficiency:
    • Expert understanding of Epic’s functionalities, workflows, and best practices concerning clinical systems.
    • Deep understanding of clinical workflow automation in both ambulatory and inpatient care settings.
  • Clinical Expertise:
    • Strong knowledge of clinical standards and practices in the following domains:
      • Ambulatory Care
      • Behavioral Health and Substance Abuse Treatment Programs
  • Must be able to pass a background check. May require additional background checks as required by projects and/or clients at any time during employment.

Minimum Skills Required:

  • Excellent interpersonal and oral presentation skills, with the ability to engage effectively across different stakeholder groups, including clinicians, IT personnel, and governance bodies.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor clinical staff and facilitate the adoption of new processes for enhanced service delivery.
  • Regulatory Knowledge:
    • Familiarity with federal and state-level compliance standards, including HIPAA privacy/security regulations, ONC (Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT) certification requirements, and CMS reporting guidelines.
  • Stakeholder Engagement:
    • Demonstrated ability to work closely with diverse provider organizations, including FQHCs and Tribal Health Providers, with sensitivity to unique patient populations and healthcare delivery models.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with high-level attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast past environment with changing priorities; adaptable to change and a quick learner.
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work well independently as well as on a multi-functional team.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately
  • Proficient in MS Office, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel.

Working Conditions

  • Ability to travel as needed to provider sites across Washington State.

Pay Range

USD $160,000.00 - USD $215,000.00 /Yr.
