Systems Analyst 3 understands business objectives and problems, identifies alternative solutions, performs studies and cost/benefit analysis of alternatives. Analyzes user requirements, procedures, and problems to automate processing or to improve existing computer system: Confers with personnel of organizational units involved to analyze current operational procedures, identify problems, and learn specific input and output requirements, such as forms of data input, how data is to be; summarized, and formats for reports. Writes detailed description of user needs, program functions, and steps required to develop or modify computer programs. Reviews computer system capabilities, specifications, and scheduling limitations to determine if requested program or program change is possible within existing system.

Responsibilities

  • Lead user research initiatives and journey mapping to gain deep insights into user interactions and identify opportunities for optimization.
  • Develop wireframes, prototypes, and visual hierarchies in accordance with established accessibility guidelines and branding standards.
  • Collaborate with Code for America and cross-functional teams to apply industry best practices in UI/UX design.
  • Engage in discovery workshops, feedback sessions, and sprint planning to ensure that design decisions are aligned with business objectives.
  • Employ a comprehensive suite of tools—including Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch, and Hotjar—and implement usability testing, responsive design, and SEO optimization strategies.
  • Complex System Design: Ability to understand and design for complex business logic and regulatory requirements, particularly in domains like government services, healthcare, or finance.
  • Understanding of Accessibility Standards: Knowledge of WCAG and other accessibility guidelines to ensure inclusive design. Interpreting new and changing business requirements to determine the impact and proposing enhancements and changes to meet these new requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Here’s What You Need

  • 11 years. Required Hands-on experience designing user interfaces and experiences for enterprise systems, including wireframes, prototypes, and visual hierarchies using tools like Figma, Adobe XD, and Sketch.
  • 11 years Required Demonstrated ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical teams, translating business needs into intuitive design solutions that align with accessibility and branding standards.
  • 10 years required Experience applying UX design principles such as hierarchy, contrast, and alignment to create responsive and accessible web and mobile interfaces.
  • 10 years Required Experience creating wireframes and prototypes that support agile development cycles, including sketch-to-visual fidelity transitions.
  • Proven UX Design Experience: Extensive portfolio demonstrating expertise in user research, information architecture, wireframing, prototyping (low and high-fidelity), and usability testing.
  • Experience with AI/ML Interfaces: Demonstrated experience designing user interfaces for systems that incorporate Artificial Intelligence or Machine Learning, with a focus on explainable AI (XAI) and human-AI interaction principles.
  • Data Visualization: Skill in presenting complex data and AI insights in a clear, concise, and understandable visual format
  • Empathy and User Advocacy: Deep commitment to understanding user needs and advocating for user-centered design principles
  • Must be able to pass a background check. May require additional background checks as required by projects and/or clients at any time during employment.

Desired Qualifications:

  • 5 yrs Preferred Experience designing graphical diagrams and visual narratives to communicate timelines, workflows, and system architecture.
  • 3 years Preferred Demonstrated ability to facilitate design workshops and feedback sessions with stakeholders, ensuring alignment with business goals and user needs.
  • 3 years Preferred Bachelor's degree in graphic design, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, or related field. Equivalent experience may be substituted.
  • 3 years Preferred Strong multitasking skills with the ability to manage multiple design streams across concurrent work effort.

Reports to: Program Manager

 

Working Conditions

  • Professional hybrid office environment.
  • Ability to work 2 (Wednesdays and Fridays) remote with 3 days (Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays) required to be onsite.
  • Must reside in the Austin area.
  • Must be physically and mentally able to perform duties extended periods of time.
  • Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed to meet the demands of this position.
  • Must be able to establish a productive and professional workspace.
  • Must be able to sit for long periods of time looking at computer screen.
  • May be asked to work a flexible schedule which may include holidays.
  • May be asked to travel for business or professional development purposes.
  • May be asked to work hours outside of normal business hours.
  • Travel costs, per diem, and other related expenses must be pre-approved in compliance with State of Texas travel guidelines.
