Qualifications – Here’s What You Need:
- High School diploma or equivalent in years of experience.
- Minimum of 2 years of related experience.
- Certified Translation Professional.
- Translation Certifications.
- Certifications from a previous agency or
- Accreditation from a translation program.
- Must be fluent in English.
- Must be fluent in one or more of the following languages: Amharic, Arabic, Bengali, Burmese, Cantonese, Chin Hakka, Dari, Farsi/Persian, French, German, Gujarati, Haitian Creole, Hindi, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin, Nepali, Pashto, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Somali, Tagalog, Tigrinya, Turkish, Ukrainian, Urdu, Uzbek, Vietnamese, Traditional Chinese, and ASL.
- Must be able to pass a background check. May require additional background checks as required by projects and/or clients at any time during employment.
Minimum Skills Required:
- The ability to facilitate translation with discretion and impartiality.
- Proficiency in written communication.
- A wide breadth of knowledge in a variety of topics
- Cultural awareness when conducting translations within different regions.
- Must possess problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft and Adobe toolsets, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Acrobat, etc.
- Highly motivated with the ability to handle and manage multiple tasks at any one time.
- Must be a Self-starter, that can work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field.
- For Medical Translation services: must have medical interpreter certificate from either the Certification Commission of Healthcare Interpreters or the National Certification for Medical Interpreters.
- 2 years of Legal translation experience.
- 2 years of medical translation experience.
- American Translators Association Certification.
- Court certified translator certificate.
Reports to: Deputy Program Manager
Working Conditions:
- Professional remote environment.
- Must be able to be on-call. Translator will be notified within 48 hours of potential jobs.
- Must be physically and mentally able to perform duties extended periods of time.
- Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed to meet the demands of this position.
- Must be able to establish a productive and professional workspace.
- Must be able to sit for long periods of time looking at computer screen.
- May be asked to work a flexible schedule which may include holidays.
- May be asked to work hours outside of normal business hours.
