SALARY:

$117,270.40- $167,523.20

 

Employment in this role is conditional upon successful execution of the contract by the client.

 

 

The Work

The Software Engineer III will provide support and expertise for the development, enhancement, and maintenance of critical IT applications within the client’s portfolio. This role will ensure that delivered solutions align with business requirements, follow established guidelines, and effectively support the client’s initiatives to enhance the health and well-being of Texas residents.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, enhance, and maintain web-based J2EE/Portal applications deployed within HHSC's Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) platform.
  • Contribute to feature development and provide defect resolution, performance tuning, and system troubleshooting.
  • Perform detailed system analysis, problem diagnosis, and technical issue resolution for production and legacy applications.
  • Design and implement scalable, high-performing technical solutions by analyzing business processes and technical needs.
  • Collaborate across teams to achieve project goals, ensuring effective communication and alignment of objectives.
  • Actively engage in Agile development methodologies, including participating in planning, daily scrums, and progress reviews.
  • Assist in design, coding, and test walk-throughs, providing technical insights and ensuring adherence to standards.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, including system designs, data/process models, and configuration guides.
  • Document and analyze potential configurations and software performance tuning decisions.
  • Implement and execute contemporary testing methods to verify application functionality and ensure solutions are error-free.
  • Provide support for unit testing, system integration testing, and deployment planning.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Here’s What You Need

  • 8 years of hands-on experience in Server-side/Web Services development, enhancing and maintaining enterprise-class applications on the J2EE application development platform.
  • 8 years of hands-on development experience implementing applications utilizing any J2EE Application Server, Authentication and Authorization, Caching strategies
  • 8 years of hands-on programming experience using Java, J2EE, REST/SOAP, HTML5, JavaScript, AJAX, CSS3, Bootstrap, SASS, Angular, Typescript, Spring, JSON, XML, JWT, NPM, Maven, OpenAPI v3, OAuth, Postman, ReadyAPI, Mulesoft and/or similar technologies
  • 8 years of hands-on development experience implementing applications utilizing any J2EE Application Server, Authentication and Authorization, Caching strategies.
  • 8 years of hands-on experience participating in all phases of the SDLC (Systems Development Life Cycle)
  • 8 years experience implementing REST services supporting client-facing applications- Experience implementing REST services security using JWT, OAuth, and other related technologies / standards.
  • 8 years of experience in development of self-contained, reusable, and testable modules and components - Demonstrable experience developing, optimizing, and maintaining an enterprise-level web services including complete ownership of the services stack.
  • Must be able to pass a background check. May require additional background checks as required by projects and/or clients at any time during employment.

 

Desired Qualifications:

  • 3 years of Hands-on experience with JBoss or IBM WebSphere Application Server 8 or later.
  • 3 years of Hands-on experience with Agile Development Methodologies (preferably Scrum).
  • 3 years of hands-on experience with CI/CD methodologies and containerized application deployment.
  • 3 years of hands-on experience with web applications developed for Cloud platforms.
  • 3 years of experience in Test-driven development and test creation using frameworks such as Karma, Jasmine, Selenium.

Reports to: Program Manager

 

Working Conditions

  • Professional hybrid office environment.
  • Ability to work on-site in Austin, Texas
  • 3 days remote, 2 days (Monday & Thursday) required to be on-site.
  • Must be physically and mentally able to perform duties extended periods of time.
  • Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed to meet the demands of this position.
  • Must be able to establish a productive and professional workspace.
  • Must be able to sit for long periods of time looking at computer screen.
  • May be asked to work a flexible schedule which may include holidays.
  • May be asked to travel for business or professional development purposes.
  • May be asked to work hours outside of normal business hours.
