Overview

The Metrology Technician III independently performs complex operations to calibrate, certify, and maintain a broad range of electronic and physical/dimensional measuring and test equipment. This position ensures accurate traceability standards and is a key technical leader in the calibration and testing arena. The technician will work with precision, utilizing advanced measurement science and analysis techniques to address measurement uncertainties, while adhering to strict quality control protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Independently perform calibration and certification of electronic, physical/dimensional measuring, and test equipment to meet traceability requirements.
  • Utilize calibration methods and techniques rooted in measurement science principles.
  • Assess and analyze measurement problems using technical expertise to ensure accuracy and precision.
  • Evaluate error sources contributing to result uncertainties and determine the reliability of measurement processes in quantitative terms.
  • Recommend substitutions for standards or measuring equipment as necessary.
  • Diagnose and repair complex malfunctions in measuring and testing equipment utilizing theories of operation, block diagrams, schematics, logic trees, and software diagnostics.
  • Troubleshoot to the component level and implement effective repairs.
  • Provides training to apprentice and journeyman technicians on metrology principles, resolving technical problems, and complicated electronic theory.
  • Develop and implement quality control plans to identify deficiencies and ensure process improvement.
  • Implements a quality control plan, identifies nonconformities, analyzes and interprets trends; recommends corrective actions, and investigates and identifies root causes of problems.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and formulas to evaluate quality and reliability standards.
  • Conduct inspections of measuring and test equipment, focusing on cleanliness, preventive maintenance, and safety compliance.
  • Analyze and interpret calibration and measurement results using mathematical formulas.
  • Authenticate calibration certificates and correction charts to ensure data validity.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience as a Metrology Technician.
  • This position requires the submission of a DNA sample, which will be stored in the government-managed DNA Sample-Employee Database to ensure it is excluded from CODIS (Combined DNA Index System).
  • Secret Clearance is required.
  • Due to the nature of work performed at the client’s facility, U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Must be able to pass a background check. May require additional background checks as required by projects and/or clients at any time during employment.

  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately.
  • Strong understanding of principles of measurement science, technical analysis, and calibration methodologies.
  • Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing complex electronic and physical measuring systems using schematics, diagrams, and diagnostic tools.
  • Ability to document calibration results and interpret technical data.
  • Proficient in MS Office, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel.

Pay Range
