The Work 

The Senior Web Developer communicates with clients to determine website specifications, create schedules, and provide quotes. They also write code and work with a team of designers and content writers. The Senior Web Developer may also assist with recruitment and training of all new junior web developers. 

This position performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the Mission, Vision, and Core Values of Cayuse. 

Key Responsibilities  

• Work with other web developers, UX/UI designers, and project managers to create websites, web applications, and other online platforms that are visually appealing, user-friendly, and fully functional 
• Design, code, test, and debug web applications and websites 
• Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders to ensure smooth production 
• Perform website updates and ensure all web pages are functional and free from errors 
• Create website layout/user interfaces by using standard HTML/CSS practices 
• Integrate data from various back-end services and databases 
• Perform routine site maintenance as needed and spotting out and fixing bugs promptly 
• Optimize web applications to maximize speed and scale 
• Write and maintain high-quality, reusable, and reliable code 
• Maintain, expand, and scale the company’s site as needed 
• Ensure website is optimized for several platforms and web browsers 
• Keep up to date with emerging technologies and programming languages 
• Mentor junior web developers and review their work for quality and efficiency 
• Ensure website security by setting up firewalls and login pages 
• Other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications – Here’s What You Need

• Level 2: 4-7 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.  A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.  Works under limited supervision with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.   

• Level 3: 8 or more years of experience, relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals, independently performs a variety of complicated tasks; may lead and direct the work of others. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.

• Proven experience as a Senior Web Developer 

• Knowledge of server-side programming languages such as Python, Ruby, Java, PHP, and .Net 

• Experience with responsive and adaptive design 

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to address complex technical challenges. 

• Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and stakeholders. 

• Must be able to pass a background check. May require additional background checks as required by projects and/or clients at any time during employment. 

Minimum Skills: 

• Proficient in HTML/CSS, JavaScript, and jQuery 
• Knowledge of server-side programming languages such as Python, Ruby, Java, PHP, and .Net 
• Experience with responsive and adaptive design 
• Understanding of SEO principles 
• Proficient understanding of code versioning tools such as Git 
• Strong knowledge of user interface and user experience (UI/UX) design principles 
• Proficiency in using web development tools and frameworks 
• Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate in a clear, professional, and articulate manner.  
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to develop and deliver compelling presentations.  
• Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with high-level attention to detail.  
• Proven ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast past environment with changing priorities; adaptable to change and a quick learner.  
• Must be self-motivated and able to work well independently as well as on a multi-functional team.  

Desired Qualifications: 

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field. 
• Leadership and project management experience a plus 
• Experience building and maintaining websites or web applications 
• Understanding of front-end and back-end development 
• Advanced skills in different programming languages such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, Ruby on Rails, or .NET. 
• Experience overseeing large scale projects, leading a team of developers, and liaising with stakeholders

Working Conditions  

• Professional Hybrid office environment. 
• Ability to work on-site in Austin, TX.
